ANNUAL SILENT AUCTION TO FEATURE
JUST JAZZ WITH SPECIAL GUEST DAVE MORGAN
Take a night to help the Arts Council of the Twin Counties celebrate 25 years of artistic service! The Saturday, November 5th festivities include entertainment by JUST JAZZ featuring the legendary Dave Morgan, catering by Chestnut Creek Coffee House & Bistro and auction items from local, regional and national donors. Bid on vacations in Russellville, Arkansas, Myrtle Beach and Edisto Island, SC, goodies from Cabot Creamery of Vermont, Walt Disney World, The Clubs of Olde Mill, Draper Valley Golf Club, Lemons’ Jewelry, Roy’s Diamond Center, Willard Gayheart, Morris Schlesinger, Hoffman Pottery and Chapter’s Book Shop to name just a few. This annual fundraiser has quickly become the party in the Twin Counties and is expected to sell out this year. Tickets are $25 per person or $45 per couple and can be purchased on-line at www.artsculturalcouncil.org or by mailing a check to The Arts Council, PO Box 492, Galax, VA 24333.
The 25th Anniversary Celebration will be at the Galax Golf o& Country Club, 107 Country Club Lane in Galax from 7pm – 10pm on Saturday, November 5th.

Cashore Marionette Life In Motion
Title: Cashore Marionette Life In Motion
Location: Galax High School Auditorium
Description: Life in Motion – In the performance Life in Motion, Joseph Cashore presents his collection of marionette masterworks. Characters of depth, integrity, and humanity are portrayed in a full evening unlike anything else in theater today. The performance is a series of scenes taken from everyday life and set to beautiful music by composers such as Beethoven, Vivaldi, Strauss, and Copland. Through a combination of virtuoso manipulation, humor, pathos, classic music, and poetic insight, The Cashore Marionettes take the audience on a journey that celebrates the richness of life. Life in Motion is a powerful, entertaining, surprising, theatrically satisfying, one-of-a-kind evening for adults and young adults.
Join us for this very special event on Saturday, May 12th at 7pm. The performance will be at the Galax High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for Adults and $5 for Seniors and Children under 16 years of age.

Holiday Extravaganza
Title: Holiday Extravaganza
Location: The Rex Theater, Galax, VA
Description: Join us for the first-ever Twin Counties Holiday Extravaganza on Thursday, December 15th at 7pm at The Rex Theatre. Featuring performances by area choirs, the Conservatory of Theatre & Dance, holiday storytelling and Santa, this evening is sure to get even the biggest Scrooge in a festive mood! Admission is $5 and donations of non-perishable food items and toys will be accepted at the door. Donations will go to area food pantries and the Angel Tree Project.

Nunsense
Title: Nunsense
Location: The Rex Theater, Galax, VA
Description: NUNSENSE is a hilarious talent show staged by five survivors at the Little Sisters of Hoboken nunnery, the rest of the sisterhood having succumbed to botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia, Child of God. The remaining “Little Hobos” parade their talents at a variety show staged to raise funds so that the last four of the dearly departed can be buried. The score pulses with merriment and an unabashed desire to make you laugh, with songs and spontaneous comic interludes paced at break-neck speed. Amid the merriment is a riotous audience participation quiz that has everyone rolling in the aisles, NUNSENSE offers a cornucopia of hilarity for the whole family, proving conclusively that nun rhymes with fun! NUNSENSE is scheduled to be performed on November 12, 13, 17 & 20 at The Rex.

Description: In 2011, the Arts Council celebrates 25 years of artistic service in the Twin Counties! You are cordially invited to join us at the Galax Golf & Country Club on Saturday, November 5th at 7pm for the ‘Best Silent Auction in the Twin Counties’. The evening’s festivities includes entertainment by JUST JAZZ featuring the legendary Dave Morgan, catering by Chestnut Creek Coffee House & Bistro and auction items from local, regional and national donors such as the Cabot Creamery of Vermont, Walt Disney World and The Clubs of Olde Mill to name just a few. This annual fundraiser has quickly become the party in the Twin Counties and is expected to sell out this year. Individual tickets are $25 and Couples are $45. All proceeds benefit the Arts Council’s Scholarship and Arts in the Schools programs.
